For an annual Twitter event Bitmove created a fun application which allowed guests to the event to look up their first Tweet and get it printed on a tile right on the spot. The application worked extremely intuitively, participants only had to enter their @username and their first Tweet was automatically previewed on a tile displaying the date and their name. After the participant approved the design, the tile was produced right on the spot using sublimation technique.
The first tweet tiles were so popular that during the event 252 tiles were produced in a time span of 4 hours, which comes down to a little over 1 tile every minute. A fun detail is that participants could navigate the application on an actual tile surface which was turned into a touch screen.
